Our Taize services incorporate the ancient tradition of song, prayer and silent meditation.

This candle-lit service combines music, chanting, healing prayer, sacred readings, and meditative silence. Through singing simple chants the mind is quieted and the heart is opened. The song becomes prayer and one can move more fully into the heart of the living God. This is the prayer not of the mind, but of the heart.
Meditative silence allows us to enter into peaceful communion with the Divine. This union enables us to experience more fully the raw and intimate presence of God within ourselves and within our community.
Brother Roger, the former Prior of the Taize Community wrote:
“Song is one of the most essential elements of worship. Short chants repeated again and again, give it a contemplative character. Using just a few words, they express a basic reality of faith, quickly grasped by the mind. As the words are sung over many times, this reality gradually penetrates the whole being. And these simple songs then enable us to keep on praying when we are alone, by night and by day, sometimes in the silence of our hearts when we are at work,”
