Nominations for Board Membership Due Now

The leadership of the church is invested in the Minister and the Board of Directors. Each of the Board members are elected and empowered by the trust and faith in them by the Congregation. The church cannot operate orderly and fairly without all three entities within it  fully represented. Your minister sometimes calls these 3 important sections of the church, The Holy Tripod, because all of them are important to the complete and balanced functioning of the church.

Our Board members are elected by the Congregation at the annual meeting which will be held this year on March 21 immediately following church services. We have two positions to fill. These positions are currently filled by Robin Friar and Nancy Porter.   Each of them can legally apply for another 3 years of service and they  have chosen to do so.

However, the nominating committee, operating according to the by-laws of the church, is seeking any other nominations from the membership of the church. These nominations must be in the church office by March 7. If you have an interest in serving or know someone you would like to nominate, please fill out one of the nomination forms from the church bulletin.

Otherwise request one from Amanda in our office. The nominating committee will interview all applicants and nominate those selected to be presented to the congregation for voting.

    Qualifications for Board Membership are:

    • 1.       Desires to serve.
    • 2.       Endeavors to live in accord with the Jesus Christ principles of love and truth as expounded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore and taught by Unity.
    • 3.       Furthers the work of this ministry through his/her active attendance at Sunday services, classes and workshops, through his/her love, service and tithing.
    • 4.       Is a sincere and continuing student of Unity, conversant with its teachings as exhibited by attendance at classes, workshops and services.
    • 5.       Has demonstrated leadership capabilities .
    • 6.       6. Be a qualified voting member (see Section 3.03(a)(1) and agree to carry out the duties of trustees as stated section 4.03(c) of these by-laws.

Duties of trustees can be found in the by-laws. For a copy, see Amanda Wagner.

    THIS IS AN EASTER WORLD!

Despite the unseasonably cold and rainy weather we are currently experiencing here in Austin and vicinity, spring is making itself known in tentative motions. My neighbor’s dirt persists in pushing forth green shoots all over their yard and you can feel the energy that is pouring out of fertile soul into trees and plants. It is wonderful to know always despite any appearance to the contrary, this is an “Easter world.” (William Sloan Coffin, Jr.)

The unexpected rain and cold caught both the Sago palms in my yard and me by surprise.  My comment was “This is not Texas weather." My neighbor said, "Stand still for 5 minutes, it will change again. Our weather is unpredictable.” So is life experience in this earth dimension. There are unexpected crises, disappointments and challenges in daily experience. In the painful times of change and adjustment, we might wonder, as I did about my palms and tender plants, if we will survive the storm.

“I am the resurrection and the life,” said Jesus Christ. I Am. The I Am of each of us is the indwelling Christ Spirit of eternal life which cannot be changed or altered nor will it ever die. Let us pray daily that we come to understand the power of life which Jesus demonstrated and always remember that Life is stronger than Death and can never be extinguished. Neither can the Christ within us be extinguished and that all the conditions of this living experience yield to the power of the life within us..

The glory of Resurrection is in that hidden seed of life planted in the ground of our being, and in spite of chills and freezing rains and bluster, in spite of all the storms of life experience, this seed of God within us produces in and through us continuous overcoming and continuous renewal.

Some of the plants in my yard survived the freezing cold, and some will be replaced. I can feel the pent up energy pouring from the ground seeking expression in every blade of grass, very plant and tree, just as the renewing energy of the Christ pours forth from the ground of our being and flowers through each of us. This is truly an Easter World.  Be thankful.

    It’s the Christ way.

    Rev. Analea Rawson

Join us for these Easter Services.

Ash Wednesday on February 17 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary

Good Friday Service on April 2 at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary

Easter Service on April 4 at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary

As we celebrate these special services we are sharing with much of the earth’s population, the acknowledgement of the most powerful demonstration of life known to the human family. As Jesus was resurrected from the frailty of a human body subject to death, into the fullness of His power and glory as the eternal Son of God, so are we all continuously resurrected into new life as we learn and grow into the fullness of our identity as children of God. Come and be with us, pray with us, sing with us, and worship with us as we rejoice in these services and in spontaneous new ones. Bring yourself and those you love into the Gathering of this Beloved Community. Have a glorious Easter.

    WHAT IS YOUR BODY’S STORY?

Would you like to know how healthy you really are?

YOUR BLOOD TELLS YOU THE TRUTH!

There’s one thing we all can agree on, that is, good health is essential to a good quality of life. The human body is a magnificent creation with a built-in immune system to regulate, combat and protect itself from most intruders. When the immune system is strong, a body is unlikely to pick up viruses or develop degenerative diseases.

For those of us committed to the health of the whole person - body, mind, and spirit - it is important to know what is affecting our health today. More people are taking prescription medications in an effort to maintain health than ever before in history. According to the Pleomorphic Theory of Disease, which modern science supports, disease arises from within us; germs are secondary infections that find a tasty acidic internal environment to call home.

Observations of live blood reveal the fascinating and powerful primordial history of us as mammalian beings. The very structure and optimal functioning of our cells is built upon the microorganisms that co-evolved to live symbiotically in our system. When our system becomes acid-leaning providing swamp conditions for the primordial part of us, those microorganisms thrive (i.e. pleomorph) to become the origin of disease.

Understanding this theory of disease provides an entirely holistic strategy for deep healing. When the body’s natural immune system is weakened conditions of imbalance will show in the blood, often before a person feels symptoms of a problem.  A live blood (darkfield) examination, can reveal early indications of nutritional deficiencies and system imbalances.

Darkfield Microscopy gives a “real time” window into the inner terrain of the body from a droplet of blood with just one prick of the finger. The blood remains alive while under observation allowing the microscope to reveal the interaction of red and white blood cells, the plasma, and what is floating in the plasma. The shapes and properties of the individual blood cells become nutritional markers in the body. Inflammation, bacterial forms, fungus, parasites, undigested food particles, crystals, and heavy metals are often viewed, indicating internal imbalances which can compromise health and affect the quality of life.

There are basically two causes of disease... lack of enough oxygen in our cells and an acidic pH.  90% of what happens in a degenerative state begins in the gut and most can be corrected with good nutrition.

When the toxic load becomes overbearing for the body, it begins to revolt and gets our attention through compromised functioning, a weak immune system that fails to protect us, or emotional stress that restricts our ability to sleep or function well in our daily lives. These symptoms are really the body’s way of communicating that it is out of balance and corrective measures are needed to restore optimal health.

From the darkfield blood observation, a microscopist can recommend a strategy for achieving an optimal blood picture and state of well-being that specifically targets the conditions indicated. Subsequent sessions monitoring the blood condition can reveal the progression toward health and an optimal blood picture in a very concrete manner.

“We are what we eat.” There are some theories that suggest genetic predisposition to a particular health challenge may be largely the result of the way we learn to eat from our family of origin. Holistic professionals will tell you that thoughts and feelings as well as food combinations will affect digestion and assimilation, and are an important part of the internal process that determines your state of health and sense of well being. They affect the condition of your blood as well. It is clear that we must become conscious of what we are feeding our bodies on all levels in order for balance of our body, mind, and spirit to occur.

What we know today is that the digestive system begins with the mouth and stomach and includes the elimination organs that assimilate and detox our bodies. When the digestive system breaks down due to chemical or other stresses, toxins accumulate in the blood, cells, and organs.

Research today suggests that these imbalances may be escalating in our body for as many as ten to twenty years prior to a diagnosis of cancer, heart disease, arthritis or some other degenerative disease.

When our immune systems become too compromised our white blood cells become overworked or less able to ingest and destroy bacteria.  Add to that any other trauma and a person may develop a serious illness, which may “appear” to happen suddenly but in fact has been brewing for some time.

Darkfield Microscopy shows markers in the blood indicating imbalances that may be leading toward a congestive or degenerative illness. Fortunately, if corrective action is taken in time to manage those imbalances, the blood can be returned to its optimal state of health.  Doing a live blood analysis twice a year can be an important step in preventative care.

The examination of live blood is an empowering experience. It’s like looking at a photograph of yourself from the inside out. Is your body functioning optimally, or is it brewing microorganisms and creating imbalances that will eventually lower your immune system and leave you susceptible to viruses, infections, a serious illness, or compromised functioning? If this second scenario is the case, you have an opportunity to empower your body’s healing by changing your physical and mental habits.

    Each Darkfield Microscopy Session Includes:

    Live Blood Viewing

    Nutritional Recommendations

    Personalized report

A healthy body is essential to the quality of life we all want. The reality is that we are impacted by external factors over which we may have little control. However, we do have control over the internal factors…what we eat, what we think, how we choose to respond to the stresses of life.  Remember:  “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,” simpler and less costly  too.

God bless you on your journey to good health!!

    Lessons for August

    Teaching Theme: Relationships

August 2     Being Real in My Relationships (John 13:34)

Join us as we finish a series of three lessons about the authenticity of our relationship with ourselves, with others and with God.  Some simple guidelines for developing our real purpose, cultivating and maintaining integrity with ourselves and with others.  The final lesson of an important series.  Taught by Rev. Analea Rawson.

August 9     In the Name of Jesus Christ (Acts 3:1-11)

How does praying in the name of Jesus the Christ empower and strengthen our prayers?  The words Jesus Christ have power in themselves.  For 2000 years humanity has recognized this person who was the revelator of God to this planet.  Praying in His name is praying as he did (with perfect faith in God and His identity as the son of God) and in the same consciousness awareness.  Learn to strengthen and empower your capacity to pray and acknowledged the Christ spirit within you which is quickened by the support of Jesus the Christ.

August 16     The Kingdom Within (Psalms 27:13,2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

The most important messages that Jesus the Christ bought to this planet is our unique relationship as children on a loving Creator and the reality of the Kingdom of God.  The Kingdom is mention at least 100 times in the New Testament.  What is it?  How do we get there?  Do you have to travel to find it?  When is it coming?  Join Rev. Analea Rawson and our congregation as she expands on her favorite themes.

August 23     The Perfect Prayer (Matthew 7-14, John 18:36)

The disciples observing Jesus’ prayer practices asked Him to teach them to pray also.  He gave them a great example.  As disciples of the way of Jesus, we sometimes ask the same question.  Join Rev. Analea as she teaches the Perfect Prayer, which is the same as Jesus taught but shortened to three words.

    Lessons for September

    Teaching Theme: Relationships

September 6     Taking Control of Your Life (Genesis 12:1-5)

Ever get caught thinking that your whole life experience is bogged down, stuck and out of control?  How can this be happening?  No matter what you do, nothing seems to be working.  We have all been there.  Rev Analea has some simple principles to get you back on track and back in control.   Hint: the first principle is surrendering to God.

September 13     The Heart of All Things (Deuteronomy 6:15)

What is at the Heart of all things, beyond what appears as reality to the human eye?  Is there something greater to be discerned and accessed beyond what is immediately visible to the human eye and to human understating?  What does it mean to see rightly?  Some pointers toward seeing with eyes of the heart (with the heart one can see rightly).  “The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

    September 20

    Guest Speaker

September 27     Seeing the Goodness of God (Psalms 27:13,2 Cor. 4:16-18)

What does the absolute Goodness of God mean to God’s creation?  How can we learn not to judge the events and people in our lives as good or bad?  How can we stop judging our own selves as unworthy and not good?  How can we expand our capacities to accept the good and great gifts of God as they are continually offered.  Join us for this worship service.

    COMMITTED OR NOT?

Making commitments and supporting them is difficult for many of us in today’s world.  Increasing demands are made on us for our time, our energy, our money and our emotional responses are many. Some of us find ourselves unable to successfully fulfill them because of over committed inertia. That just means we are trying to meet too many needs with too little time and energy. The answer I think is selective and deliberate choice.

One major commitment that all of us are called to make is our commitment to live for and in God. When we put that first, then all other demands fall into priority order and we are guided to those things that “must be done by us”.  This spiritual community provides a home and gathering place for those who have committed to “put the kingdom of God first”.   Attendance and participation in, prayer and  financial support  for are all part of our fulfilling our commitment to God. The good news is that as you do these things you receive more than you can give. The return on you invested commitment is many times over. God does not participate in equal exchanges.

To insure that you get the most out of your membership in this church, you may want to assess yourself on the 3 S’s.

How is your SERVICE? Do you and might you actively participate and share your gifts here by serving as a youth teacher, greeter, gardener, office volunteer, host/hostess, and kitchen worker. Service opportunities can be found in the prayer minister, the men and women groups, the master mind group and our prosperity consciousness holding group.  Right now our finance team needs two to engage and assist the present team. We always need singers and musicians and right now we need a book store manager.

How is your STUDY?  Are you learning and strengthening your relationship with God and others through the study and practice of spiritual principles? Attending church for Sunday lessons, taking at least 2 classes or workshops each year, reading a minimum of 2 truth books per year, studying the Bible or listening to cassettes will keep you aware and learning.

How is your SHARING?  Although we know your giving is personal and between you and God, it is important to examine your financial commitment to God’s work. Just as a review of our daily schedule will show us where our primary interests are, a checkbook or credit card review will show us where our financial commitments are. Consider tithing to your church in order to participate in the spiritual law of giving and receiving. (As you give so shall you receive.)  You will be surprised by the truth of that old spiritual, “you can’t beat God giving no matter what you do”.

SERVICE, STUDY AND SHARING These are key ideas and practices which promote our growth into a greater identification as children of God.  They will actually help prioritize our commitments.

    Pastor’s Pen

    June 2009

    Worth Repeating:

For some people, each new day not only brings excitement and opportunity, but irrational fears about what the future will bring.  It is wise not to let fears and apprehensions rob us of our present and therefore the good thing that is seeking to come into our experience.  Listen to this.

Thomas Jefferson and a group of men traveling across country on horseback in the early days of this country stopped to have supper at an inn.  One of the group spoke and said, “My friends, we face the most difficult part of our journey tomorrow.  Tomorrow we have to cross over the dangerous Fox River to continue.”  Now the Fox River was noted for sudden changes.  Some days it was deep, some shallow.  Some days the water was fast and treacherous, some days it was quiet and serene.

There was much discussion of how they should cross the river the next day.  Should they walk, should they swim, should they ride their horses, should the build rafts, or buy boats?  The more they talked about it the more alarmed and fearful they became.

Then an older man entered the inn.  He was Trapper Williams, the most noted scout and frontiersman of that area.  They called him over because he had crossed the river many times.  Perhaps he could answer their questions.

His response was, “I have crossed the Fox River many times in different ways over the years.  Because the river is always changing, I have only one rule with which to cross.  It is: I never cross the river until I get to it.”

Good advice.  Jesus, the noted scout and frontiersman, walked on the water to the disciples and said, “Take heart I am here, have no fear.”  Fear not or don’t be afraid are in the bible 365 times.  One fear not for every day of the year.  Coincidence?  I don’t think so.

Fear not, it’s the Christ way!
